ABOUT

A Story of Music and Tradition Since 1976

The Italian band Usi & Costumi was founded in 1976 in Mergo, a small village in the Marche region.

The original lineup included Simone Cola (who would later become the band’s leader), Augusto Loccioni (accordion), Euro Bravetti (mandolin), Antonio Pompili (vocals), Igino Barbaresi (electric guitar), Maurizio Loccioni (lead guitar), Adriano Barbaresi (bass), and Sauro Montecchiani (drums). Initially, they focused on traditional Italian folk music, performing throughout the Marche region and quickly earning a solid reputation.

After just one year, the group expanded its reach, performing all over Italy. This marked a turning point, as they introduced new songs inspired by Italian pop music. Along with this evolution, two new members joined the band: Ovidio Urbani (alto saxophone) and Roberto Rossi (tenor saxophone), enriching the band’s sound with their talent.

With growing experience and success, Usi & Costumi had the opportunity to perform in prestigious venues, including the Hilton Hotel in Rome, where they supported the renowned Peppino di Capri, and the Pergolesi Theater in Jesi, where they captivated the audience with a memorable performance.

The German Adventure and International Success

In 1980, the band entered the recording studio for the first time to produce a cassette featuring their best songs.

That same year, during a concert in Cupramontana, they met Italo Servadio, an Italian resident in Germany and the owner of a well-known hotel in the north of the country.

This encounter opened new doors for the band, allowing them to perform every summer in Schleswig-Holstein, one of the top tourist destinations in northern Germany.

In the following years, Usi & Costumi brought their music to cities such as Lübeck, Heiligenhafen, Travemünde, Neustadt, Eutin, Burg, Timmendorfer, and Hamburg, expanding their audience and strengthening their connection with the German music scene.
